Sean Durkin was the Project Manager for a two room freestanding studio on our property in 2009. The project was completed on budget and on schedule and was the best building experience we have encountered.

All work undertaken by him (arranging contractors, site supervision, responding to and addressing our queries and suggestions, checking on progress, etc) was undertaken professionally and promptly.  The project was completed to our satisfaction and at all times Sean kept us informed.

He was completely reliable and trustworthy and regularly accessed our property in our absence. He checked several times after the project’s completion to ensure there were no post-build concerns. His manner is courteous and polite and he demonstrated a pride in all workmanship.

Our project had a wide scope and an ambitious timeline in a period of high uncertainty, with Covid lockdowns and unprecedented labour and supply chain shortages. We wanted to bring our period home up to high energy efficiency standards, including the installation of a state of the art heating/cooling system, insulation, double glazed windows, and to move away from dependency on gas to solar energy and electricity, as well as adding our own (significant!) personal touches to the home.

EBG delivered all our requirements and provided us with clear communications, patience and thoughtful, well-researched and honest advice throughout the project to achieve our dream home.

Kendra and Sean are extremely hard-working and knowledgeable in all aspect of building and construction. They have meticulous attention to detail and are also amazing creative thinkers and problem solvers. Kendra’s project management skills are outstanding. She was able to seamlessly revise project timelines countless times to accommodate changes in supply chains, often at very short notice. We were always kept well informed on the status of our project and EBG were always very considerate and accomodating of our needs and time.

Sean’s role involved obtaining competitive quotes from qualified tradesmen, setting out a detailed budget estimate for the works, coordinating the tradespeople, review of their work and follow up on the quality of work. During this process Sean’s attention to detail, diligence and follow up were exceptional. He was on site and involved in the process every day. He professionally engaged with both the tradespeople and us. He was able to quickly problem solve any issue that arose and advise the tradespeople accordingly. Not only is it refreshing to find a builder who takes an environmentally aware approach as standard practice but Sean and Kendra were also caring and considerate, committed to quality, and attention to detail in undertaking our project.

Sean’s attention to detail was evident from his approach to costing the work. By reviewing the plans, clarifying design details and fully specifying electrical and plumbing fixtures and fittings in consultation with the sub-contractors, the required work was fully understood and properly costed in the contract.

The commitment to quality was clearly demonstrated as work progressed. Short cuts were just out of the question, the new was seamlessly blended in with the old.

We also greatly appreciated the efforts to keep us comfortable as the work went on around us through a winter build. An insulated temporary wall kept the drafts out, temporary fencing kept our dogs secure and work was arranged to keep inconvenience to our living to a minimum.
